Customers who had specialty plates during the Teton plate series should have been contacted by WYDOT, reminding them to reapply if they want to keep it for the new series. The same fees are required. If you were not contacted by WYDOT, you can reapply
online.
Most specialty plate customers who reapply keep their existing plate combination. However, National Guard plate numbers are reassigned based on rank and date of rank, and some veteran plate numbers with a final alpha will receive a 5 digit number instead.
Personalized plates with the new design are now allowed a maximum of 5 characters. The new University of Wyoming plates have changed to a gold background with brown numbers.
