New 2017 License Plates

Wyoming law requires the license plate design to change every eight years, and the new design to be readily distinguishable from the previous design. All designs are required to include the bucking horse logo.

A new design with Lower Green River Lake and Squaretop Mountain in the background was issued in 2017. Also new for the 2017 plates,  a "T" was added to truck plates, a "C" to commercial vehicle plates, and an "A" to University of Wyoming (Alumni) plates, to distinguish those vehicles from standard passenger vehicles with the same number.

IMPORTANT: Initial registration for new series plates that display a county prefix (reserved, personalized, and University of Wyoming) must first  be done in that county so they can be tracked. This excludes all veteran plates.
